On Thursday, the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia met for the dinar. Serbian chief negotiator Petar Petkov has said there has been no agreement. It was the fourth meeting for a month on the issue.
Kosovo's deputy prime minister has said they have agreed with Lajcak's proposal, while Serbia was unwilling to compromise.
This meeting is scheduled with the idea that the parties will reflect, either the Serbian side has asked for more time because they did not have competencies in decision-making. Last week it has become clear to the Serbian side that the next meeting can only be held if they come with ideas for compromise. Unfortunately, we have had major differences today. While the Kosovo side has discussed options with which Serbian citizens can receive financial support even further from Serbia, the Serbian side has acted as a Serbian Post Bank lawyer and have been discussing how to regulate the license of this bank, which is neither the competence nor the interest of the parties involved. Looking at the inability to reach a compromise, Lajcak has issued a unified proposal, which we believe is a constructive proposal and on the right track to find solutions which best suit Serbian citizens in Kosovo, but at the same time respects the BQ EC regulation”, Bislim said after meetingt.
The next meeting will be held in Brussels in two weeks.
