Defence Minister Ejup Macedonia has raised its concerns over the security situation in the Balkans, citing tensions between Kosovo and Serbia following the latter's military exercises near the border.

The first of the Ministry of Defence said that the Balkans still have a unstable situation starting with Serbia-Kosovo tensions and other issues that are related to security and defence.

He stressed that he is in the overall interest of Western Balkan countries finding mechanisms for European integration through interparliamentary diplomacy and European co-operation.

Minister Macedonia also spoke about Russian efforts to destabilise the region, including through false news.

He made these comments during the work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Southeast European Co-operation Process, with the theme “Challenges in the area of security in Southeast European countries: political and security consequences as a challenge for peace and stability in the region”.
