As reported, the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the amount is needed to help 3.1 million people, “to remove human suffering and prevent further life loss”.
It becomes known that most of the funding -- around 732m euros -- will be earmarked for food aid in Gaza and 400 thousand residents on the West Coast.
This step by the UN comes as the organisation is struggling to prevent hunger deaths on Palestinian territory, writes SkynewsHe's following in on Telegrafie.
By contrast, the UN Security Council has recently held a meeting to review the Palestinian Authority's application (AP) for membership in the United Nations.
Since 2011 The AP failed to become part of the organisation as an independent state.
But before any state can join the UN, the Security Council and the General Assembly must vote.
So it is likely that Palestine's application could be vetoed by each of the permanent members of the Council, including China, France, Russia, Great Britain and the US.
