Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has commemorated the killings of 86 civilians by Serb forces in Sculered Poles in 1998.
April 7th is the date when they remember the civilian victims and the martyrs of Drenica Pole! Before the war began in Kosovo, about 450 families of over 4,000 people, all Albanians, lived in the village of Pollac in the Sqaheraj municipality. ”
Kurti has said 78 were civilians, while eight martyrs from the KLA.
But during Serbia's military and police offensives in the summer of 1998 on the villages of Drenica and especially during the criminal campaigns of Serbia's armed forces, 86 people were killed in Pola -- 78 unarmed civilian victims and 8 martyrs from the Kosovo Liberation Army. Of those killed in Polac, 12 were from the Krolli neighborhood, 11 from Kabashi neighborhood, 11 from the Veliu neighborhood, 11 from the Xani neighborhood, 8 from Koci, 4 from the Aliuka neighborhood, 3 from Hoti neighborhood, and from other neighborhoods. ”
He has written that after the murderous campaigns, Serbia had presumptions of concealing crimes and eliminating traces.
After the murderous campaigns carried out on Kosovo Albanians, Serbia's largest state concern was to hide these crimes and eliminate traces, mainly targeted through the disappearance of lifeless bodies. Seven Polish residents are still undiscovered, while Serbia's authorities refuse and avoid co-operation with international justice. In wartime, 20 people of Polac survived the wounds. ”
“during 1998-1999, Serbia's police and army burned and destroyed the village of Polac almost entirely. More than 450 residential houses, oda receptions and arrijes were burned, making it even more difficult to return to the village and rebuild life in Polish after the war. ”
Kurti has said the state and Kosovo society will take care of the heritage of the people's war.
“Kosovo's society and state will take care of the legacy of the Kosovo people's war. You will not cease to seek justice for the victims, for war crimes and the damages of war towards criminals and address their superiors! 25 years later, we remember and honor the civilian martyrs and the NLA martyrs from Polac. Glory and gratitude! ”
