It was thus declared after having a work breakfast at the Bertelsmann Foundation, with important personalities and researchers, among them German Bundestag deputy from the ranks of Social Democrats Frank Schwabe, European Stability Initiative Director (ESI), Gerald Knaus and Foundation Executive Director Daniela Schwarzzer in Berlin, Germany.
We took our first step in 2008, when Kosovo declared independence and most of the democracies in Europe recognized us. The second step concerns joining institutions that are pillars of democratic Europe. We want to unite NATO as a security umbrella for our continent. We want to join the European Union as the project and the most important peace and prosperity process. But the first step we have to take now is to join the first club of European democracies, created just this month 75 years ago in London: The Council of Europe”, Kurti said.
He added that the government is committed to respecting common values, human rights, rule of law and democracy. He called on Germany officials to continue supporting Kosovo even in the last phase of voting and achieving full membership in this organisation.
