Africa Shala, the Supreme Court judge, said that if Kosovo becomes part of the Council of Europe, citizens who consider themselves victims of any violations could address the European Court of Human Rights (GJEDNJ).
Shala said that the benefits of our citizens with Kosovo's membership in the KiE will be of different nature.
“Every citizen of the Republic of Kosovo who considers himself to be the victim of any injustice by judicial organs will have the right to now address the European Court for Human Rights”, Shala said.
The judge said the ECHR is a KiE mechanism, which has the responsibility to oversee the implementation of the European Convention, which is one of the key KiE documents.
I consider that when Kosovo becomes an official member of the Council of Europe, our citizens will have the opportunity that any case they consider to be victims of these rights that are guaranteed with this Convention and with its additional protocols to refer to in this very mechanism, seeking justice from it”, Shala said.
The same stressed that with membership in the KiE, there will be advancing human rights and improving justice and judicial system in particular. / Justice Trust
