Lajci has finished high school in Pec and the Philological Faculty in Pristina.
He was former political condemned by Serbia's regime. In 1981 he was the organizer of demonstrations, the reason for which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
From 2001 to 2007, he has been head of the Peja municipality, while between 2007 and 2010 the deputy of the Kosovo Republic of Kosovo Assembly.
Comfort for his death has expressed the country's leaders as well as political leaders.
