The White House announced on Saturday afternoon that President Joe Biden is returning to Washington from outside the city “to consult his national security team about events in the Middle East” amid increased tensions between Israel and Iran.
The American president planned to spend the weekend in Delaeare at his beach residence, but on Saturday after being informed he left for his return to the White House, writes The Guardian, the newspaper Express broadcast.
This comes after Biden said Friday he expects an Iranian attack on Israel and issued a final message to Tehran, saying: “don't do”.
Earlier, John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security, had warned that the threat of an important Iranian attack on Israel remained “implementable” despite efforts led by Washington, including calls directed by Tehran from Great Britain and Germany, to prevent a serious escalation in the conflict in the Middle East.
On Saturday, the Corps of Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard in the Strait of Hormuz, about 80km off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, seized a container ship linked to Israel.
Iran has threatened revenge against Israel for an attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1st, in which seven members of the Revolutionary Guard -- including two generals -- were killed, causing fears that an already unstable climate in the Middle East, with Israel and Hamas killed in the war -- could soon disappear further.
