German prosecutors said they did not rule out the possibility that the assassination of two Ukrainian soldiers over the weekend may have had political motives, while stressing that they have arrested a Russian citizen who allegedly slaughtered two soldiers to death.
The two soldiers who were recovering in southern Germany were found outside a shopping mall in a town in Bhavari on Saturday evening. According to police, they had suffered serious stab wounds. One of them, 36, died on the scene, while the other 23 - year - old soldier passed away as a result of his injuries.
A 57-year-old Russian has been arrested shortly after suspected murders, German police said.
According to first information, three people seem to have met each other.
The crime project is still unclear, even though the political motive cannot be dismissed. Investigators are investigating in all directions”, Munich Prosecutor's Office said it is handling the case.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Dumtro Kuleba, has asked the Ukrainian General Consulate in Munich to monitor the case and continue to be in touch with German authorities.
Meanwhile, in a separate case two German-Russian citizens were arrested in Germany earlier in April under suspicions that they were planning sabotaged attacks, including military buildings. Officials said these attacks were intended to undermine military support for Ukraine. /rel
