Child violence to parents in Elbasan increases

Family violence is recognising a new approach in Albania in recent years. In Elbasan most of the charges come from parents, raped by children. Legal representatives claim that two are the most frequent reasons for conflict over property and addiction to narcotics.

The first-instance court psychologist Elbasan, Eriona Hoxha, who has been closely assisting court hearings, says the cases have increased after the pandemic.

“Yes, these cases have been added, especially in this three-year-old, to say after pandemic. Males are more likely to bully against their parents, the object of violence. And for that they are condemned as the law predicts. It's a growing problem because I think it's up to other problems that these young people have in their lives, such as substance abuse and sometimes property pacts”, says psychologist.

For psychologists, this disturbing phenomenon of child violence against parents shows that Albanian society is in crisis.
