Albania's former top diplomat, Ditmir Bushati, has reacted after Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said Serbia could leave the Council of Europe if Kosovo is joined in the organisation.
Bushati has said this rhetoric is contrary to European Union agreements, under which Serbia will not oppose Kosovo's membership in any international organisation, Expres reports.
This rhetoric goes against European Union agreements, under which Serbia will not oppose Kosovo's membership in any international organisation. Drawing parallels with Russia and threatening to leave the Council of Europe that contributes to human rights protection is not useful either for Serbia or for the Serb minority in Kosovo”, Bushati has written.
Otherwise, Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, in an interview for Serbian media last night, has said Serbia could leave the Council of Europe if Kosovo is accepted.
A possibility is to leave the Council of Europe. Kosovo's entry into that organisation would be de facto the expulsion of Serbia” Vuciq has said.
The “will be very, very unpleasant when (internationals) hear all the details of how they lied to Serbia about the Council of Europe and all other stories. Do so, and then we will see whether Serbia wants to stay on the Council of Europe or not. So, let's see, maybe you like to have Pristina on the Council of Europe more than Belgrade and Serbia”, Vuciq said. He said he would not reveal to the end what their action will be.
Serbia's president downplayed the role of the KiE, saying it is an organisation that decides nothing.
Also recalling that Russia was excluded from the Council of Europe before Kosovo's application is introduced in a daily order, he reiterated that Kosovo's membership means Serbia's de facto expulsion from that organisation.
This rethoric goes into conflict to deal with problems to hide what can not be observed in any instance. Organization. Drawing parallels with é and telling to leave @coe that contributions to increasing human rights is not beneficial either to nor to minority in é. https://t.co/geTKWA6HA
