Serbia claims Bakoyannis “) will give” positive opinion on Kosovo in KiE

The head of Serbia's permanent Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (APKE), Biljana Pantic-Pija, claimed that the Rapporteur of the PACE Political Affairs Commission, Dora Bakoyannis, would give a positive opinion on Kosovo's membership without using the “key” issues related to further travel towards KiE. On a proposal [...]
In a campaign for the Serbian-language portal “Cosovo-Online” on Tuesday, it declared Bakoyannis repeated key provisions “for Kosovo's membership in the KiE: implementation of the Constitutional Court for the Decani Monastery, the foundation of the Serbian Major Commission Association, and the ban on exproprimations of land in predominantly Serb municipalities.
“in a heated discussion that lasted for more than an hour, representatives of Kosovo's recognition states of Kosovo's independence expressed great dissatisfaction with its firm stance that until the three requirements are met, it will not give a positive opinion, which is the basis for Kosovo's admission to the KiE”, the Serbian representative in KiE stressed.
Pantic-Pija also cited the European Stability Initiative's report (ESI) dedicated to the longest judicial dispute in Kosovo, where it says that the Constitutional Court's decision for the Decani Monastery should be implemented in order for Kosovo to join the KiE.
Kosovo applied for membership in KiE in May 2022, but do not implement the Constitutional Court's decision on the Decani Monastery has become an obstacle for the small Balkan country to continue its journey towards membership in the KiE, especially because human rights and rule of law are the two fundamental values on which the pantheon of European nations is based.
