The protection sícii has accepted all witness statements, pending trial against Sladan Trajkovic

These claims, defender of accused Trajkovic, lawyer Dejan Vasic, have been made before failing witness Mehdi Gashi failed.

Initially, regarding a statement by the witness given in the police on May 12th 2021, lawyer Vasic said he has asked for it earlier, as well as has acknowledged that the sameite surrenders in Albanian, but said he has not yet accepted.

Lawyer Vasic said he wanted to read that statement before presenting questions to witness Mehdi Gashi, demanding that equality be secured between the parties.

That statement, Vasic denied accepting it, even though prosecutor Florije Salihu-Shali said she had handed it over.

Regarding the demands of the Vasic avoakt, Judge Mentor Bajraktari said that, according to the January 17th 2024 parade, he has requested several witness statements issued before UNMIK, EULEX, KLMDNJ and the Kosovo Police.

So, he said the court under official duty would be addressed to U. NMIK and EULEX regarding statements that have pre-termed the lawyer.

Also, Judge Bajraktari imposed the State Attorney who claims he owns, to hand over the tribunal and defence.

Thus, Judge Bajraktari said that since there are obstacles in dealing with the hearing of witnesses in defense, which, according to him, the court has had to take care of the initial phase, then today's review ceases and tomorrow's hearing is cancelled.

As for the witness's statement, Gashi, delivered on December 16th, 2022 (which the lawyer says does not), Judge Bajraktari said the court considers that this statement does not exist either in the prosecutor or is not the one who has issued this witness statement.

For this statement, Judge Bajraktari said it was a technical mistake, as the prosecutor has clarified, adding that this statement will not be requested in the parliament.

Otherwise, the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo on 12 July 2023 has filed charges against Sladan Trajkovic, who is accused of war crimes against the civilian population.

According to the indictment, Trajkovic is accused that during the time of war in Kosovo, in the 1998-1999 period in the village of Reznik, the Wushtrria municipality and in the villages around this municipality, individually and in co-ordination with other people, has contributed to the killings, raids, torture, torture, inhuman treatment, being held in slavery conditions, deportation and deportation of thousands of Albanian civilians, as well as measures of looting, burning and destroying the homes of the Albanian civilian population that have not taken part in the conflict directly.

With these actions, Trajkovic is charged with co-ordinating with other unknown members of the Serbian Police Unit and other armed and uniformised persons having committed criminal work “War crimes against the civilian population”, pre-arranged and punishable according to Article 142 and 22 of the former Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia's Criminal Law currently incriminating as crimes against humanity from Article 1433, paragraph 1, sub-paragraph, 1.6, and 1.7 related to the 31st Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo. /Betimy for Justice
