Power one step closer to apprehending the Prosecutorial Council

Opposition parties have not participated in the vote.

On Thursday in the absence of quorum, the adoption of the reproductive health bill has failed again.

There has been no quorum in the Kosovo Assembly, even to vote on international agreements.

Criticising both non-governmental organisations and opposition parties has come under criticism for the draft for the Prosecutorial Council.

Recently, the Social Democrat Party of Kosovo through a symbolic action in the court of the Kosovo Assembly on Thursday has rejected the third draft of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council Law, since the two pre-prepacial draft laws were first overturned by the Venice Commission and then by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo.

In the PSD assessment, the Kosovo government with mathematical exercise through the draft law of the Prosecutorial Council is willing to control this independent institution.

Member of The PSD, Zgjim Hyseni, in a proposal for the media after the symbolic action, has suggested that the government of Kosovo with the current draft is making a trick when it is appointing the election of members of the Prosecutorial Council, increasing the number of members in 18 for a transitional period.

“With the current draft, four are chosen from the ranks of prosecutors, while three are from the simple majority Assembly. This time they moved the trick. Now the hylja is in a transitional period. The current council has 13 members, increased the current council for transitional period to 18 members, plus five members each has to be elected from the”,

So, so according to Hysen, the Kosovo government is willing to create the majority in order to elect the chief prosecutor.

The chief prosecutor is one of the members in making four by one, so their math is one I have in mind, you choose it now so that when it's four to three, it's four that control them, so they're trying to elect the chief prosecutor by increasing the current number in this transitional period”.

Hyseni, at the media conference, has also explained the Kosovo government's tendency to bring preliminary laws into check by the Prosecutorial Council through two-drafts.

“In the first draft, it has been put in short, four elected members from the plain majority Assembly have said even three of the prosecutors. To reduce, this would mean that the chief prosecutor with whom the prime minister chooses”.

“After the Venice Commission has eliminated this law, the strategy has become a little more frugal, Albin Kurti's school servant said that the majority will now be prosecutors, because most of them have been elected by politics, are neither in Serbia nor in Albania, which we consider to be authoritarian”.

However, without hiring members elected by politics, no relevant decision can be taken, practically with the second draft they have vetoed members elected by politics”.

This game, according to Hyseni, is a violation of the balance and autonomy of the justice system.

And this draft has been rejected by the Constitutional Court”.
