Political relations have “created” with Albania, Kurti says economics are better off

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said economic relations with Albania have strengthened more than ever before, while continuing to publish his work data for three years' governance.

Kurti wrote that in 2023 “Albania became our main trading partner”.

Today, our economic relations have strengthened more than ever before. With the opening of two customs offices of the Republic of Kosovo in Durres and Porto Romano, we won access to the sea, which benefits our businesses and our economy. Investments from Albania and trade exchanges have increased and are increasing. In 2023, Albania became our main trading partner. And this year, we marked a historic moment in our energy sector cooperation. Albania's electricity stock exchange operational and inaugurated A EPEX, which enables us to increase multiple exchanges through this common stock market. Equally historical was Kosovo's successful candidacy for organising the 2030 Mediterranean Games. It became possible just with assistance and co-operation with Albania. The Albanian coast will welcome the navigation sport within these <x1) games, Kurti wrote.

From bilateral agreements that exist between the two countries, Kurti said “58 was signed during these three years, and within which we have held two joint physical meetings of our governments”.

The simplification of bureaucratic procedures facilitates the approach of our citizens in service but also their daily lives. The permit of residence is already done with fewer procedures. As for legalizing the documents, we have removed the requirements for seal or style among us. We have also signed agreements with the Republic of Albania on recognising the right to exercise attorneys and mediators in both countries. For over 200 thousand residents of our common border generation, they move more freely with the functioning of 26 separate crossings. And between cross-border villages we have started to build roads that connect us even more, more easily, for more exchanges and more mountain tourism”, Kurti wrote.

Among the most important nationwide projects, Kurti said it is the agreement for construction of the Pristina-Durra railway.
