Poland's president and prime minister are meeting with Joe Biden today for talks in Washington.
The visit marks Poland's 25th anniversary of NATO membership, but discussions are also expected to focus on a push for continued US aid to Kiev.
Ahead of the visit, President Andreze Duda urged other NATO members to step up their defence spending in response to Russia putting its economy on a war base.
The war in Ukraine has clearly shown that the United States is and should remain the leader of security issues in Europe and the world”, he said in a national speech yesterday. “However, other NATO nations must also assume greater responsibility for the security of the entire alliance and modernise and intensively strengthen their troops”.
The White House said Duda, Beden and Prime Minister Donald Tusk will reaffirm their firm support for the protection of Ukraine against Russia's brutal invading war”.
