Hilmi Canolli, former police officer, spoke of the 13-year-old Peja case allegedly abused sexually by two seniors, has said the sentence for suspects is more than 10 years in prison.
At RTV Dukagjini, Canolly stressed that such cases are taking place because of young people's lack of education and punishments that the perpetrators of criminal acts are taking, hinting at huge penalties.
For the concrete case, the sentence is over 10 years in prison that means up to life imprisonment. This is also the inducation of young people but also the punishments that are currently taking place by the perpetrators. Kosovo institutions should deal with this phenomenon, a special care is paid, the notice of the case as a start, the security of evidence, and if such a case is addressed rapidly... these phenomena would be reduced”, he said.
He has stressed that Kosovo police would have to form a unit that monitors social networks.
The contacts between the victim and those people occurred through social networks. Police are good at forming a social network monitoring unit... The only satisphacies would be when the guilty would receive the punishment as deserved. There should be no extenuating circumstances to accept guilt”, he added further.
He does not believe the suspects could be released in freedom in this phase.
In these cases, the evidence that has been provided is the victim, the site of the event, the victim's phone... in these cases even in the device examination unit should have priority in these cases”
