Osmani represents Kosovo at the Democracy Summit: We witnessed our devotion to international standards and cooperation

President Vjosa Osmani has represented the Republic of Kosovo at the Summit for Democracy, which is now virtually organised by the Republic of Korea, under the leadership of President Yoon Suk Yeol. In her statement, Osmani noted the vital importance for strengthening and further development of democracy, stressing the necessity of unity by democratic states in the face of emerging authorities.
The terms we have undertaken under the Summit for Democracy have led to our journey, both in politics and decision-making”.
In her statement, the president stressed that since the latest meeting of leaders, Kosovo has made significant steps in advancing rule of law in line with the comprehensive national strategy, “one of the most important results under our pledges at the Summit for Democracy”.
“We have also witnessed our dedication to international standards and co-operation by adopting the Declaration against arbitrary ban in interstate relations; by becoming part of the Declaration of Principles to combat transnational depression along with six other democratic countries in October past; and by working closely with the United States towards advancing joint efforts to combat the manipulation of information by any foreign state<x1.
Osmani has also spoken <x0 over continued efforts to combat gender-based violence, strengthen women economically, and strengthen their role in public and political institutions, stressing that gender equality and women's empowerment have been at the heart of all our pledges”.
On the eve of the second edition of the International Forum for Women, Peace and Security, which will be held in Pristina in April, Osmani has stressed that one of the biggest achievements this year is the founding of the first Regional Centre for Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in the Western Balkans, in partnership with the US Secretary of State Office, in line with the Strategy for Women, Peace and Security 2023 US and the National Action Plan.
