The Hungarian leader has expressed his support for “Trump in the November presidential election in the United States.
Orban, probably the biggest Trump supporter in Europe, has spoken openly about the desire for Trump to return to the White House, saying this is the only reasonable “being the only reasonable@x1> for Hungary.
Orban's attitude is quite contrary to that of many leaders in Europe who fear that Trump's return as president will damage relations and undermine security throughout the continent.
The “for Hungary, the preference for Trump, has nothing to do with personal consent or political ties, but concerns that the foreign policy of which American leader would reinforce Hungarian security”, Hungarian Government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said on March 4th.
Orban will stop at the Mar-a-Lago resort after attending a panel of the conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington the previous day, when he spoke of economic policies and the conservative Hungarian family, the war in Ukraine, relations between the United States and Hungary, Trumpin and his personal political beliefs.
The Hungarian prime minister's agenda has not been made public, and it is not known whether he will meet with another US official during his visit to this country.
Washington has been critical of the organisation, because its government has ruined democratic principles and maintained its close relations with Russia since the Kremlin began invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Orban, who has been ignored by many Western leaders, has refused to send weapons to Ukraine until he has attempted an immediate ceasefire and peace talks.
He says Trump and his good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin will make him the best candidate to end the war,
The world's only option for a relatively swift peace agreement is political change in the United States, and this is related to who is President”, Orban said earlier this week.
“is not a threat at all, but it is the only reasonable approach for Hungary to support President Donald Trump”'s return, he said.
Orban, who has been in power since 2010, has named the White House of Biden as an opponent, according to the pro-government newspaper Magyar Nemzet.
