Official: Decani Monastery registers ownership of 24 hectares of land

The Diocese of Raska and Prizren of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo confirmed that the Decani Monastery has registered 20 hectares of land in Kosovo's central Cadastre in Pristina on his behalf. “Based on the cadastral extract, we can confirm that the 2016 Constitutional Court and the Monastery have been implemented in the cadastra [...]
On the basis of the cadastral extract, we can confirm that the 2016 Constitutional Court's decision has been carried out, and the monastery is also known as the owner of the previously disputed land. With this we can conclude that the long-standing legal process that has taken place about 24 hectares of the Decani Monastery has finally been resolved”, the report said on March 20th.
On March 13th, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that he had asked the Cadastral Agency to transfer 24 hectares of land on behalf of the Decani Monastery. He said implementing the Constitutional decision would be crucial for Kosovo's application for membership in the Council of Europe, during the Parliamentary Assembly of this institution, to be held in April.
The Kosovo Government's decision was criticised by local officials in Decani and an association of historians in this municipality, who have named the Constitutional Court's decision unjust.
The international community had repeatedly urged Kosovo to implement the Kosovo Constitutional Court's ruling concerning the 24 hectares of the Decani Monastery. REL
