Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti attended last night's notice of Ireland's National Day organised by the Irish Embassy in Kosovo. On the same day, Ireland celebrates the feast of St. Patrick, also described as Ireland's patron saint.
As reported in the announcement made by the prime minister's office, Kurti at the ceremony has stated that Kosovo and Ireland have always had friendly relations since declaring the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.
He underlined the fact that Ireland was among the first countries to recognise our state and citizenship, 12 days after declaring independence. Prime Minister Kurti described strengthening bilateral relations between Kosovo and Ireland as one of the blessings of 2017. In less than two months, two bilateral state visits were completed. Initially the visit of Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Vardkar to Pristina on January 10th, and Prime Minister Kurti's visit to Dublin on February 29th and March 1st”, the report said.

At these meetings, the prime minister stated that they have agreed to intensify co-operation in a number of areas, especially in the technology sector, for the benefit of the citizens of both countries.
Kurti has also stressed that threats of terrorism and aggression in the region are on the rise and that Kosovo's membership in Euro-Atlantic institutions is more important than ever before for the peace and security of the region.
“We in Kosovo appreciate and appreciate our partnership with Ireland”, the prime minister said.
He added that “at a time when threats of terrorism and aggression in the region are on the rise, Kosovo's integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions is more important than ever before for peace, security and human rights in the Western Balkans. In this direction, the prime minister was especially grateful to Irish Prime Minister Vardkar for his vocal support for our membership application to the Council of Europe and the European Union”.
