Prime Minister Albin Kurti has remembered the 1989 folk demonstrations on their 35th anniversary.
Kurti, in a Facebook post, has written that Serbia's police during these demonstrations killed 25 demonstrators and injured another 603.
“Mes chapters of the history of the oppression of Kosovo Albanians by conquering Serbia and of the resistance and rebellion of the people of Kosovo for freedom today remind us of the 1989 folk demonstrations on their 35th anniversary.
On March 27th and 28th of 1989, Serbia's police crushed the peaceful demonstrations of Albanians around Kosovo, where only during those two days 25 demonstrators were killed and another 603 wounded”, Kurti wrote.
The prime minister has added that they were seeking their political rights, opposing political repression and the installation of Serbia's discriminated and criminal regime, which only four days earlier had been overlooked by Kosovo's autonomy.
In the days following these demonstrations, 1200 Albanian demonstrators were imprisoned after political trials.
Glory to the fall in the 1989 demonstrations among the fallen on the long track of the people of Kosovo for freedom!”, Kurti said.
