The IPK recommends suspension of police suspected of smuggling goods over 40,000 euros and demanding suspension of a border police

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has announced that a police official suspected of smuggling goods has been suspended. And so, The IPK has recommended the suspension of even a border police change leader.
The IPK says two days ago investigators have accepted information from Kosovo Police on a suspected case of smuggling goods suspected of involving a police official.
The police official allegedly smuggled merchandise worth over 4 thousand euros by driving the official car.
The IPK investigators have immediately responded to the case and undertaken preliminary investigative actions in consultation with the Basic Prosecutor in Gjakova. After the company and preliminary actions, IPK investigators have found that the police official (in charge of the Regional Road Communications Unit in Gjakova) has smuggled merchandise through the Prush border point worth over 4,000 euros (camerals, alarms and other internet means) by driving and using a private car. IPK investigators have interviewed several witnesses and suspects (police official) and in consultation with the Prosecutor have initiated a “smuggling with goods”. ”
Meanwhile, the suspension of the shift leader at the Qafe Prush border has also been recommended when criminal acts have been allegedly committed.
“Under the investigation and other actions of administrative nature, the IPK has recommended to the Kosovo Police the extent of the suspension of the alleged police official in this case, as well as the recommendation for the suspension of both the leader of the shift to the Qafe Prushi border point at the time the criminal work was allegedly committed. ”
“The IPK thanks the Kosovo Police for their co-operation and joint commitment towards strengthening police integrity. The IPK, under legal authorisation and full co-ordination with the State Prosecutor, will continue to undertake other investigative actions towards full enlightenment of all the circumstances associated with the case. ”
