Albin Kurti has spoken out for elections. Memli Krasniqi has submitted the candidate for prime minister and has proposed a date. Lumir Abdixhiku has conducted discussions with the party on the election list. Ramush Haradinaj is trying to expand the coalition a little longer with Fatmir Limaj. Only one meeting (and reconciliation) is missing between representatives of political parties for the way they go to the elections and the date for keeping them.
The opposition calls for early elections, and the ruling party has voiced open expression on this. But political parties have not yet sat down to talk about the date. Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca proposed earlier this week that political subjects discuss the timing of holding the next parliamentary elections.
You know I'm a choice weather. I said the best option is to go to the elections, but now, everyone's saying it's this year. This year has a few more months. I can't tell you what's the best time to go to the elections, but you've heard the prime minister say he would be in favour of an initiative of the opposition in going to the polls... We just have to sit with political parties and specify what is the best time, is wine, is autumn”, Konjufca said in a statement before the media Monday.
Similarly, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared there is no problem in holding elections prematurely.
“If the opposition wants early elections, the Parliament” must be disbanded, the government's chief said on March 21st, in an interview for Radio Free Europe.
Meanwhile, opposition parties are getting ready.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo has already chosen the candidate for prime minister. Chairman PDK, Memli Krasniqi, announced on Wednesday that they have decided on Bedri Hamza.
After giving this announcement, tonight the leader of The PDK said in Pressing in T7 that it proposes that elections be held on June 9th.
I'm giving a proposal today for the first time. I think we should deal with the election on June 9th. I believe it would be an appropriate date”, Krasniqi said.
In the Democratic League of Kosovo, Kurt has been asked to resign to go to the polls, as they say he has surrendered “”.
The day Kurti spoke out for early elections, LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku had a meeting with the party heads of branch. The main discussion, as he announced, was the organization for national elections. He even said that at this meeting they had “final executions” for the candidate list of MPs to compete with the oldest party in the country.
Our modernization is taking shape. At the joint meeting with Branch Speakers, we laid down the meeting calendar in Kosovo and the Magyars as a discussion; organisational preparations for national elections, final discussions for the MP list and the further opening of LDK to each right that shared visions similar to this house of democracy”, Obadiah wrote in a Facebook post.
The AAK also seems ready for choice. Ramush Haradinaj's alliance will compete in a coalition with Fatmir Limaj's Initiative.
The elections seem inevitable this year. President Vjosa Osmani in late January offered to discuss the issue with political parties.
“If political parties agree to keep them earlier, there are several options which allow the Constitution of Kosovo. One of them is for the Assembly to be distributed earlier, but for such a thing it takes 2/3 of the votes, therefore a kind of reconciliation or agreement between the overwhelming majority of political parties that are in the Kosovo Assembly for a previous date” was subsequently expressed.
The parties are polling to understand their position, while the Kurti 2 government is moving towards the end of the mandate.
