This would give the Chinese company ByteDance, six months to sell its controlling shares or the app would be blocked in the United States.
While the bill passed overwhelmingly in a vote, it still needs to be approved by the Senate and signed by the president to become law, writes BBC, Translation Periscope.
Lawmakers have long maintained concerns about the influence of China on TikTok's app.
TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, founded in 2012.
The Beijing-based firm is registered in the kyman Islands and has offices throughout Europe and the US.
If the bill manages to secure approval in the Senate, President Joe Biden has promised to sign it once it is placed at his table, which could trigger a diplomatic row with China.
