US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill has said the US government expects Kosovo to fulfil all obligations stemming from the Brussels accords.
In an interview for the Serbian newspaper “Blic”, Hill has also said that Kosovo wants to join the EU, but to do so, “takes the whole process”.
“As regards Kosovo's will and its application to the Council of Europe, much will be spoken, there will be a lively debate, and in some ways it is all related to the Ohrid Agreement. The Ohrid Agreement imposes certain obligations and requirements on both sides, so we have to see how it will go, but of course they want to membership in the European Union, I think that's clear to all of us, but they have to pass the entire process”.
As far as Kosovo is concerned, I can only speak on behalf of my government, because there are many discussions on this topic in Quinn. But my government's position is that Kosovo must fulfil its obligations by the Brussels Agreement and if it does not, of course it complicates its interest in being part of the European Union and other organisations”, said Hill in this interview, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
By stopping at the Association, the US diplomat said this would happen. This body, Hill said, will be necessary for both Serbia and Kosovo's future.
“I think it's going to happen, that the Association of Communities (most, St.red.) Serbian is very reasonable a solution for all. The AKS would help overcome many current problems and difficulties the Serb community has in Kosovo. I think the AKS is necessary for Serbia's future, and I think about the future of Kosovo, so I believe it will happen. It is a negotiation process that is difficult. Many movements play a role in this, but I think that what is essential, I have already said many times, is that it is important for the Serb community in Kosovo what their future will be and what will be the future of their children, and I think the AKS is the best way to achieve it”, the American Ambassador to Belgrade, Christopher Hill, stressed.
