Accidents during January 2024 mark a decline compared to 2023. From Kosovo police, it suggests that in January of this year, four people have died as a result of accidents, while last year five people have lost their lives as a result of the accident.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of injuries has decreased, with 621 total in 2023, while in January of this year there were 543 accidents with injuries.

But these statistics are being seen with high concern by communications connoisseur Bekim Ahmeti. The one for Online Economics says that among the main factors in the large number of accidents is disrespecting traffic signs.

There are many factors that are particularly due to disrespecting the speed of movement by sign and not respecting any other signs, the inability to drive, temperament, and other types in communication, but all of this is happening because of the slowness of movement, because if it had been respected, then the vehicle was prohibited before danger, as was the case of a light damage that is not easily damaged, and we suffered the death of a citizen who is tragic, Ahmeti says.

He has demanded that static cameras be installed in different roads in order to significantly reduce the number of accidents. He takes such a practice as an example in Western lands.

There are 80 percent of the rules that are not respected in Kosovo and 20 percent are. This is where an old banner works. Faces and shit goes away. What needs to be done is set up cameras, mobile and static radar, and then you see what happens to the driver. We know how they get into the red light, how they respect speed and it's easier for the expert to make a decision to assess the situation as to what happened. Imagine that we have Europe's mobile radar become chaos, we don't even have”, he said.

And the Ministry of Infrastructure's new decision to increase the sentences is not seen as a solution, as delays by justice institutions are being great.

It's not a problem to get him up to the penalty, but don't let the Court and Prosecutor delay my sentences. He sends the police back to the courts, because the subject is getting old, and when it gets older it doesn't take that much to base. I was supposed to be a special dictatorship for traffic accidents and fines, and that doesn't delay fines, and as a result, we have a higher speed. I would change that any person who doubles the speed of moving, example 50, he goes to 100 or gets into the red light on purpose, for his own reason, then I'd do it with a freedom removal of”, he said.
