Last year the Kosovo Assembly elected the new governor of Kosovo Central Bank, Ahmeti Ismaili.
The new governor's name became very current, as Kosovo, through a BEC decision, banned the use of the Serbian dinar.
But who is the current chief of the BQ, and how did Kurt's power bring him to one of the key positions of the highest financial institution in the country?
Before Ismaili was elected to head the Central Bank of Kosovo, he was director of the Treasury.
At the time, the finance minister was Hykmete Bajrami, currently the LDK deputy.
During that time, there had also been spectacular thefts to the state treasury, when Labinot Gruda, that world-worker of the Treasury of Kosovo, had made the transfer of over 2m euros through four different transactions, to the company's account, the LDA Group Spark.
Gruda is already in pain with the 11-year prison sentence for this theft, but this theft was used by VVA's propaganda machine to blame parties that were in power at the time, especially former finance minister Hykmete Bajrami.
The Vetevendosje movement demanded its resignation, but also those in the state treasury hierarchy.
And in the state treasury hierarchy, Ahmet Ismaili, now governor of BQKU, was in the position of treasure director when “launched” 2.1 million euros ahead of the state.
When old parties return to power illegally, they respect and encourage organised crime in the country. Thus, this illegal government did not initially prevent it, and now 43 days later it has failed to assume even the slightest responsibility for the organized theft of more than 2 million euros from the state wallet. ” was then said in the VVU's official response.
But last year, all of this had not prevented the ruling party, LVV, from appointing Ishmael as governor.
Named by many as a man of power, his choice at the helm of the CEC was coincided with many irregularities. For this reason, monitoring the process had also attracted the Great Britain Embassy.
The reason for this was that without any public clarification, without seeing any decisions, the names selected in the first competition for BEC governor went to the Assembly.
After that, the Kosovo Central Bank announced the new competition for this position, but the same names were found on the list.
Ahmet Ismaili and Lulzim Ismajli were the two candidates who for the second time took advantage of the Kosovo Central Bank governor's post.
Article 110 of the Parliament's Job Rule says that in cases when candidates fail to meet the conditions, then the Speaker of the Parliament should inform the institution in question of this fact.
So the Commission had claimed that these members did not meet the conditions. For these violations President Vjosa Osmani had also sent letters to former BQ Governor Fehmi Mehmeti.
He had demanded that he not decree Ahmet Ismail as governor in the BEC.
According to Mehmet, there were many violations in the process.
The <x0 skeletons that took place during the recruiting procedure, beginning with what the Central Bank of Kosovo Steering Board has announced as the second competition for the same position without making the decision to annul the first contest, as well as the discrimination and inequality that took place in the phase of the procedure, is worth mentioning the failure to take adequate steps from the Commission for Bux, Labour and Transfer with the case of calling for flagrant violations, and neglecting the legislation in force is equally attracting from the British Commission's process, leaving you no choice as the highest level of office proposed by the Kosovo government, as long as you did not issue the order of the process of the country for the country to issue with the constitutional order of the order of the country.
However, Ahmet Ismaili, was elected Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo at the plenary session of the Republic of Kosovo, held on July 13th, 2023.
Along with his choice, criticisms and political accusations of VVéa were forgotten for the theft of 2.1 million euros from the state treasury.
Clearly, this did not make Governor Ahmet Ismajli responsible for the crime he committed by Labinot Gruda and Kadri Shala, as no former minister Bajrami did.
But this was not taken into account by LVV, which insisted that Gruda and Shala's theft responsible him to make LDK) minister.
