Croatia's government has launched procedures for mutual recognition of drivers' license between Zagreb and Pristina.
This was made known by Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Davor Bozinovic, who also presented himself to the government cabinet at yesterday's meeting of the decision to start the procedure for linking the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for reciprocal recognition and replacement of the driver's license.
“This is an agreement aimed at improving bilateral co-operation in the area of facilitating road safety on Pale territory. Such an agreement has already been linked by the Republic of Kosovo with several European Union member states. Talks and negotiations on linking an equivalent agreement with several other members are under way”, Minister Bozinovic said, adding that the decision's adoption would enable the start of negotiations for the draft agreement.
Currently, in Croatia, 590 Kosovo citizens have taken a permanent stand, and 8082 of them have taken temporary stance. In Kosovo, 1497 Croatian citizens are registered, while 60 Croat citizens with residences in Croatia are registered for temporary relocation to Kosovo.
The draft agreement defines the process of recognition and replacement, as well as the way to verify the validity and authenticity of drivers, and after the completion of negotiations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will hand over to Government a report on the ongoing negotiations and their outcome. Implementation of this agreement will not require additional financial means from the State Budget”, Minister Bozinovic concluded.
The government of the Republic of Croatia, with MPB proposals, has adopted the decision to initiate the procedure for linking the agreement in question.
