Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Implementation Affairs Todd D. Robinson today comes to Kosovo.
He initially stopped in Tirana, where he met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Robinson will stay in Kosovo on 2022 March, but will not meet with the country's prime minister, as in Tirana. In Pristina, he will meet President Vjosa Osmani.
“From the 20-22 March, Assistant Secretary Robinson will travel to Pristina, Kosovo, where he will meet with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and partners in the law enforcement and justice sector”, the UN reported.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti was recently ignored by USAID senior official Erin E McKee, who stayed in Kosovo for an official visit earlier this month. She had an appointment with only Osman.
US Emisar for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar has recently spoken of consequences for Kosovo, due to the government's invisibility to American demands. He said on Friday that no one from the government has had high-level meetings with someone from the American administration for two years.
Now, the question is not whether there will be measures, but, of course, there are consequences. We're going through the second year, maybe even in the third year, and there's been no high-level meetings between anyone in the Government of Kosovo and someone in the American administration”, Escobar said in an interview for Radio Free Europe. “So this should also be an indicator for people where the” relationship is, the American diplomat added.
