CEC violates legal deadline, adopts part of election regulations late by one month

The Election Law was adopted by accelerated procedure on June 8th last year, while it entered into force in early July 2023. The adoption of part of the election regulations was made on Wednesday, at a Central Election Commission meeting.

We've dealt with several different workers, as well as here in the CEC and almost every working day”, said Kreshnik Radoniqi, leader of the CEC, before putting each of the regulations to the polls.

As the regulations have been drafted, CEC officials have clarified that some of them are stuck in translation procedure.

Sami Kurteshi, a member of the CEC from the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV) ranks, has said he has accepted nine regulations.

And leader Radoniqi has mentioned Friday as an opportunity to complete the adoption of regulations.

Last week Radoniqi had warned that at this week's meeting KEC members will address the issue of signatures collected in the north for the dismissal of mayors in northern Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin-Potk Zvecan.

KOHA has reported that verification of these signatures is closed by the CEC, but that the confirmation of the signatures is stalled because of differences within the institution who should set the date for the dismissal vote.
