He said he had heard that Wessel was a respected person in the ranks of the KLA, but nobody talked about his post.
We had heard of Mr. Wessel as a name. There was a very mysterious person because they had told us, or at least there was evidence that he was very close to Hashim Thaci and that they had been close friends since the time of studies at Pristina University in early 1990 and he was a respected person in the ranks of the KLA, but no one talked about his functions and rank”, he said.
During this time, Byrnes said that he had never met Wessel but that words had spread about intelligence activities.
I didn't recognize Mr. Wessel and I have never met him, and as a fact I have no idea what he was doing. Word had spread that he engaged in intelligence or intelligence”, he said.
While, he said the first time he met with Weselin has been after the start of NATO bombings, specifically by June 1999. He said he had his first meeting in Pristina.
As I recall, he approached and introduced himself. He said I am Mr. Wessel. (Did he introduce himself for the role?) I don't remember but I don't think”, he said.
