The village of Ulije in the Leposaviqi municipality has burned an object owned by Nenad Radosavlevlevqi, director of the Directorate for Sports, Youth and Culture in the municipality that operates according to the Kosovo system.
Radosavlevic has told Radio Free Europe that he believes arson has been deliberate and that the motive is political.
According to him, the burned object was in the village of Ulije near his vineyard in the territory of the Leposavic municipality, and it was set on fire on March 22nd, but he understood this one day later.
“The door is warped because it may have been broken with levers. The block's broken to kick the door, which was completely new. This has been done by a political factor that is the opposite of the political factor I belong to”, he said.
Kosovo police have told Radio Free Europe that the case of fire is being investigated, but that at the moment it is not believed to be firing.
No one is suspected at the moment. It is believed that there has been a problem with the 911 stream, Veton Elshani, deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, said in some response to Radio Free Europe.
However, Radosavlevic believes that his involvement in Kosovo institutions has disturbed the Serbian List and that behind the fire lies the largest Serb party in Kosovo, which enjoys the support of official Belgrade.
The Serbian list has dismissed the accusations, considering them groundless.
In July 2023, Radosavlevic has agreed to engage under local authorities in Leposaviq, the municipality in northern Kosovo inhabited by Serb majority, after members of the Serb community had left Kosovo institutions at the Serbian List initiative.
Early in March, unknown persons have also burned the joint owned by Natasa Tomanic, deputy head of the Zvecan municipality, which operates according to the Kosovo system.
She had also said that she doubts the Serb List is behind the fire, though the party has later denied this statement.
Currently, four Albanian mayors are leading municipalities in northern Kosovo.
They received the mandates in May of last year because Serbs had boycotted the elections.
However, some members of the Serb community later agreed to engage as quarts of local authorities.
The Serbian list, which initially called for a boycott of the elections, has said in October last year that it is now ready to participate in them. / REL
