US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the visit to the Middle East will have several goals, including the achievement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas the Palestinian group declared terrorist organisations by the United States and the European Union, and the release of hostages.
This visit, according to him, will be “to discuss the proper architecture for a stable regional peace”.
Blinken will stay this week in the Middle East, the US State Department said earlier Tuesday.
The American top diplomat will stay in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where he will meet with senior leaders of both countries.
More humanitarian aid in Gaza, but also discussions on what will happen in the Palestinian enclave after the war ends will be on the agenda of talks between Blinkens and Saudi and Egyptian officials.
