The World Bank office in Kosovo has announced that in the report Women, Business and Law 2024 Kosovo has managed to get 91.9 points out of 100 possible. The announcement is said to have taken maximum scores in terms of restrictions on freedom of movement, laws affecting women's decisions [...]
Kosovo has scored 91.9 of the possible 100 points in the report Women, Business and Law 2024 (WBL2024), which is an index covering 190 economies and is structured about the life cycle of a working woman. A total of 35 separate questions are valued on 8 indicators.
General results are then calculated by taking the average of each indicator, where 100 points are the highest possible result. Kosovo has taken the maximum points in terms of restrictions on freedom of movement, laws affecting women's decisions to work, laws affecting the payment of women, marriage restrictions, restrictions on women to start and lead a business, and gender differences in ownership and heritage.
But when it comes to laws affecting the work of women after the children are born and laws affecting the extent of a woman's pension, Kosovo may consider the reform enterprise to improve legal equality for women. For example, one of the lowest results for Kosovo is in the measurement of laws affecting women's work after having children. To improve the Parents' indicator, Kosovo can look to regulate that the government manages 100% of its lehonia rest benefits and enable parental payment permits.
