Anti-Kosovo vote for KiE, Abazovic: The new government has similar vision, we supported it on my mandate

If Dritan Abazovic were still prime minister, Montenegro would not vote against Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. Abazovic thus reasoned on his country's position, against Kosovo in the KiE.
Over my mandate, we fully supported Kosovo. But that's the new reality. This is because the majority is created with parties that do not share the same vision, programmes and values. They think this might work, I say otherwise”, Abazovic said.
Asked about the lack of concrete results in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Abazovic made an appeal for both sides.
We lost 20 years, we can't wait another 20, but we have to be concrete. I support finding the final agreement between Serbia and Kosovo and inviting both sides, governments, leaders to sit together and find the solution for the future of those people who see their lives in the region”, he added.
As for the important election process in which the European Union will be included, Abazovic said a triumph of the far right would not help the European bloc's expansion.
The “will be a very bad message for us because no one will return to the past. The idea is to have vision of the future. We need to see more solidarity in Europe, not otherwise. I support parties promoting enlargement. We need to understand that enlargement is not only for the benefit of our countries, but is investment in Europe's security and future”, the former prime minister stressed in an interview at Euronews Albania in Brussels,
Beyond good co-operation with the current president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Abazovic sees the need for a new spirit.
Be honest, I think it'll be good for the European Commission to be updated. I think in some ways it might be more concrete, to produce more results. I think Europe can be more productive than it is now”.
We remember that the Republic of Kosovo has successfully passed the vote on the Parliamentary Assembly Committee of the Council of Europe. By 31 votes, four against and one abstention, positive opinion of the rapporteur, Dora Bakoyannis, has been adopted.
Except for Serbia against Kosovo membership, Montenegro's representative has voted.
