The Kosovo Environment Protection Agency has come up with a clarification of the heavy air quality situation, especially during yesterday's 27 March.
“during yesterday's day (27.03.2024) has been noted the weightier air quality situation compared to other days, particularly for PM10 Dust Grimes and PM2.5”, AMMK reports through a Facebook post.
The heavy air quality situation for PM10 and PM2.5 parameters is registered especially at stations in Pristina, Gjilan, Mitrovica and Peja, the agency notes.
The AMMK explains the widespread opinion that this situation has resulted from the meteorological conditions in which the country was located. According to meteorological data from the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, the country during these days was under the influence of air measures originating from North Africa.
The dust coming from the Sahara to Europe that has included Kosovo has influenced the value of dust particles.
The burden of dust and small grains of sand from the Sahara is a phenomenon that often encompasses Europe and manifests largely with the presence of dust particles in the air.
