On the 25th anniversary, Kurti said our job is never to forget the dark past and work for the democratic Republic, where the main principles are to respect human rights and justice.
On this 25th anniversary, we have come to Mitrovica to honour the memory of civilians killed by Serbia's forces at the Green Market Massacre in 1999. While expressing our pain and honour for lost lives, we stress the necessity for justice for the victims of this massacre and hundreds of other massacres committed by Serbia in Kosovo”, he said.
“Granata was allegedly fired from a military facility where Serb forces were deployed during the 1998-99 war. Today lies the Republic of Kosovo Police Camp, bearing the name of hero Enver Zymer, which guarantees security, as public good as being offered to all citizens indiscriminately”, Kurti stressed.
Otherwise, on March 13th 1999, in the Mitrovica Green Market massacre, seven civilians have been killed by grenade launch by Serb forces: Abaz Mecina (1944), Ahmet Strana (1941), Elizabeta Hasani (1994), Ragip Bajrami (1946), Beatdown Peci (1934), Sevdije Serani (1949) and Valdete Strana (1977); and there have been 128 injuries, many of whom remained disabled.
