United States considers possibility of creating an independent Palestinian state

The United States is pursuing an active policy regarding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state offering security guarantees for Israel and are co-operating with partners in the region regarding all options, the State Department spokesman said Wednesday. Matthew Miller refused to provide details on the internal work the department was conducting on this issue, but said at a press conference that the effort has been the target of President Joe Biden's administration.
“We are actively trying to create an independent Palestinian state, with real security guarantees for Israel, because we believe this is the best way to bring lasting peace and security to Israel, to Palestinians and to the region”, spokesman Miller said.
There are a number of ways to achieve this, a series of steps that can be taken to meet this goal. We have a wide range of alternatives that we are discussing with our partners in the region, as well as with other partners within the US government”, spokesman Miller said.
Portal Axios announced early Wednesday that State Secretary Antony Blinken has asked the State Department to conduct an analysis and offer alternatives to policies on possible American and international recognition of a Palestinian state after the war in Gaza.
British diplomacy chief David Cameron told a group of UK lawmakers that London, its allies and the United Nations “will consider the matter of recognising a Palestinian state”, the BBC network announced on Tuesday.
Washington has linked the creation of a Palestinian state to efforts for Saudi Arabia to normalise relations with Israel. Efforts have taken an even greater push after Hamas' attack on October 7th against Israel, where more than 250 people were taken hostage.
Meanwhile, recent months have marked the resumption of dialogue. American officials see the possibility of reaching an agreement to free all hostages in exchange for a lasting ceasefire as the essential element that could affect the progress of efforts to normalise relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
During a speech in Davos earlier this month, Mr. Blinken said that for the Middle East there was a “equence of”, in which Israel's Arab and Muslim neighbours were prepared to integrate Israel into the region, but were equally devoted to a road to a Palestinian state.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah rejects President Biden's administration proposal for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. He said over the weekend that he would not compromise on “the full control of Israeli security in all the western territory of the Jordan” River.
