Natalia Costina from the Ukrainian News Agency U KRIINFORM estimates that Kosovo has problems with Serbian propaganda, as Ukraine is challenged with Russian propaganda.
In an interview with the KP, Costina says that because of Russia's invading war in Ukraine, 16 Ukrainian journalists have remained dead while in charge.
It's a huge diversity, because we have some common challenges, maybe finances, trust, etc. We have absolutely different levels of challenges such as dezinformation”, Costina declares.
Costina considers that in terms of dezinforms and Russian propaganda, her state is the main place in fighting these phenomena.
This is a difficult time. I think everyone in Ukraine stress after almost two years of war, but for the media, they're really very professional in the case of Russian propaganda. Ukraine will really bring him to court. And I think it's going to be such an experience and since another country can probably use it. So, I think that in fighting disinformation we are in a major country in the region, but mainly in terms of Russian propaganda. I think that in Kosovo you have similar challenges but with several other acts --” -- points to Costina.
Speaking of the challenges facing journalists during the report, Costina says 16 Ukrainian journalists were killed in the war because of professional responsibility, some civilians, and others because they served in the military.
The latest report of our national journalists union... Almost 80 journalists killed in Ukraine, 16 because of professional responsibility, some civilians, and others because they served in the military. So, at the beginning of the war, probably most journalists, I mean, active journalists decided to go to war as soldiers. Because they decided it's more important to defend with weapons than to defend by words”, she says.
According to her, all people still suffer at the same level as the war that has developed there. “is not a kind of category of people who had certain preferences. It's still like all the people in Ukraine, I mean they suffer at the same level”, Costina ends.
