Donald Trump is ever closer to nominating from the Republicans' ranks for the presidential race after he won a big victory over Nikki Haley in South Carolina.
The former president achieved a score of 20 points to his rival within the party in the fourth consecutive victory.
While celebrating the outcome, Trump did not mention his rival Haley, who vowed to stay in the race, though the numbers are already becoming more stubborn. Instead, he focused on general elections in November.
We'll look Joe Beden right in the eye. He's destroying our country and we're going to say "Joedil you've been fired from work”, the former president said.
Trump did not forget to assess his party's unity after Saturday's result, saying that “never had a spirit like this. I've never seen the Republican Party so unified”.
Nikky Haley, who formerly served as governor of South Carolina in two terms, commended her rival for his victory. She added that she would not give up because the votes she received were not few, and for that reason she would continue to respect the will of supporters.
There are large numbers of voters in our republican preliminary elections who say they want an alternative. I'm not giving up this war when most Americans don't accept Donald Trump and Joe Biden”, she added.
She vowed to stay in the race at least until Super Tuesday on March 5th, when voters in 16 states will cast their ballots on the same day. /A2 CNN
