Thailand's former prime minister released on bail

Thailand's convicted former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, has arrived at his residence in the capital, Bangkok, after being released on bail.

The billionaire was released from a police hospital where he was serving a year in prison for corruption and abuse of office, the BBC writes.

Thaksin, 74, was arrested as soon as he returned to Thailand last August from 15 years in self-impressed exile.
