Workers from Banglandesh are increasingly replacing Kosovars who are fleeing to Europe.
This was true of a metal - producing company in Ferizaj.
One of the workers who came from Bangladesh to work here is Momen Bihn, who has grown thousands of miles from Kosovo.
However, this young man is deeply impressed by the newest country in Europe, even though he says he has worked elsewhere.
I've been working here since last week, it's great. The working conditions here are very good, because I worked in Dubai in the last 16 years, but here the conditions are better, colleagues are very good, people are very good. Food is different in our country. Everything is different than in Bangladesh”, it says of Tv 1. Momin Billah worker from Bangladesh.
This Bangladesh citizen shows procedures on how it came to Kosovo.
My brothers have told me that if you decide to go to Kosovo, you look for work under good conditions, so I applied to this company, which provided us visas, work permits, and I went to the Kosovo Embassy in Bangladesh which also gave me permission to come here”, he says.
The conditions offered by this Kosovo company are also enjoying its co-owner, Elias Mias.
Besides working conditions, this Bangladeshi citizen is enjoying something else in Kosovo.
I am a Muslim, and I come from Bangladesh, and that is why I have chosen Kosovo to come. There are no political problems here, there are no terrorists that is why I like Kosovo. I've been here for three months, when vacation time comes I'm going to Bangladesh. I communicate with my family every day over the phone. Work in Bangladesh begins at nine o'clock, in Kosovo starts at eight, the salary in Bangladesh is lower, in Kosovo is higher. My salary here is 500 euros”, says Mias.
Asked if I'd go anywhere else in Europe, he has this answer.
I can't decide if I'm going to another place, because I have my job, I start eating, I don't have any problems. Boss is fine, why did you go to another place?
In this metal manufacturing company, about 100 workers work, where 16 of them are from Bangladesh.
The owner of this business “Eurometal”, Arbor Musliu, shows the reasons for replacing Kosovo workers with Bangladesh's.
Musliu points to the challenges these Bangladeshi employees had at the facility in the state of Kosovo.
But for the work these citizens from Bangladesh are doing in Kosovo, Private Sector Union Chairman Yusuf Azemi is puzzled.
According to a report published by the Gap Institute in 2023, over 3 thousand work permits were issued by the state of Kosovo for foreign citizens during 2023.
According to these statistics, Turkey and Bangladesh top this list, where 1004 Turkish citizens and 722 Bangladesh citizens have received work permits last year.
