The European Union's spokesman for foreign policy and security issues, Peter Stano, has said dialogue continues despite technical issues like the latter related to the Kosovo Central Bank's decision to ban the dinar.
As he has been asked whether a “fears” that there will be a new status quo in Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Stano has denied it.
“Dialog continues. We're working, and we keep working on this process moving forward, helping the parties finally start acting constructively so that they can move forward. We're not afraid there will be a new status quo, or a cramp. In fact, we're not afraid of anything, but only because the people of Kosovo and Serbia, will be left out of what is envisioned for them in the Membership Process, because we're seeing all that you're mentioning in your question, and what we've reacted to in recent weeks. In particular on the side of Kosovo, with unilateral decisions, and things that have raised concerns, along with the way Pristina authorities communicate with it. These create fears in us, that Kosovo can stay out and lag behind”, he said.
However, Stano emphasises that the EU's emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, along with senior representative Josep Borrell, will continue to work in order for the parties to be able to make steps on issues where there is no progress.
