That reaction comes after police closed Serbia's parallel municipalities in Dragash, Pec, Istog and Kline and the NGO's objects Centre for Peace and Tolerance in Pristina.
The European Union highlights with great concern this week's Special Police operations at the offices of Serbia-run institutions in the municipalities of Dragash, Peja, Istog and Kline, and the facilities of the nongovernmental organisation Centre for Peace and Tolerance in Pristina. ”
Stano has said closing these offices will have negative effects on daily life and conditions of the Serb community in Kosovo
The sudden closure of these offices will have negative effects on the daily living conditions of the Kosovo Serb community, as it will limit their access to basic social services given the apparent lack of alternatives at this moment. ”
He has added that the status of these structures is meant to be resolved through dialogue.
“The status of these structures is meant to be resolved in the EU-launched Dialogue, in terms of the establishment of the Association/Unitivity of Serb majority municipalities. Therefore, the EU urges Kosovo to avoid unilateral actions that could increase tensions and address these issues through EU-enlightened dialogue. ”
Regarding these issues, US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier has also emerged in response last night, saying Kosovo authorities are pushing unnecessary interethnic tensions.
He said the Kosovo government has responsibility for all citizens' concerns, while adding that the issue of Serbian structures should be involved in dialogue.
The United States government is deeply concerned about the recent actions of Kosovo Government authorities, who have direct and negative influence on members of Serbian ethnicity and other minorities in Kosovo. These actions are unnecessarily increasing interethnic tensions and, as a consequence, restricting options for the United States to serve as an effective applicant for Kosovo in the” international arena, Houvenier's statement said.
