“SEU talks with Kosovo Serb representatives on dinar issue

O Mission Chief The SEU in Kosovo, Michael Davenport, has met with representatives of Kosovo Serbs, who have discussed stopping the use of the dinar in Serb-run northern municipalities.

A good “Exchange with representatives of the Kosovo Serb community. They listened to their concerns and reiterated the need for timely and comprehensive consultations and communication with those affected by decisions. We stressed the need for the community's legitimate interests to be represented in Kosovo institutions at all levels”, the OSCE media office has announced.

Otherwise, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after attending the US President's Day footnote held near former President Bill Clinton's statue in Pristina, spoke to reporters about the dinar issue until he asked the Government to co-operate with allies.

“Co-operation with our allies never leads Kosovo astray. As president of the country I am constantly encouraging institutions to keep co-operation at its peak, because every time we act together we are much stronger and the same thing I ask for even now and I am convinced that we are on the right path, this transition plan is achieved with everybody's reconciliation. Along with our allies in implementing the Constitution at every corner of the country”, Osmani said.

Following fierce international criticism, on February 13th, the Kosovo Central Bank (BQK) has indicated that the transition phase of its regulation, which prohibits the use of the Serbian dinar, will last three months.

The news has been broadcast by the CEC through a media communique, which is said to have drafted a new plan for facilitated implementation of regulation effects for cash operations in specific communities.

Additional operations, which are expected to be realised in the short term but no longer than three months, in co-operation with banks and other financial institutions”, are said by the CEC.
