Kosovo police have detained two suspects in connection with the distribution case of several tracts in northern Mitrovica, through which the “call for resistance” was made.
Kosovo Deputy Director of Police for the Northern Region Veton Elshani said the rule authorities are looking for a third suspect.
During the police action, which took place Wednesday afternoon, where G.K. was detained. (1978) and D.S. (1971), four locations in North Mitrovica were raided.
The detainees, according to Elshan, will undergo interviews regarding the allegations of distributing tracts.
On February 13th, police had indicated that at the entrance of buildings and different roads in North Mitrovica, the Serb-run residential municipality had encountered tracts making “calls for resistance” and inciting hatred”. According to authorities, these tracts were distributed during and after a protest by Serbs in northern Mitrovica held on February 12th, who rejected the decision to ban the Serbian dinar for carrying out payments in Kosovo.
The tracts, which were signed by “People's Protection”, which were distributed into various channels in the telegram, contained alleged guidelines for resistance to Kosovo police. Among other things, in these tracts, it was said Kosovo police should be shot by some means, spit on members of police and be offended. Then, break up police vehicles with a vehicle and give instructions on how to make Molotov cocktails and similar ones.
Radio Free Europe has not been able to verify the authenticity of these scattered tracts on the social network, telegram.
The Serbian List, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo enjoying official Belgrade's support, said that anyone who has taken these actions has been aiming to undermine peace and deepen instability “so that Serbs can be blamed for possible new incidents”.
