Mission O The SEU has expressed concern over Kosovo Central Bank regulation ( The BQK, which envisions only euro currency being used for payment, to end the use of the Serbian dinar. This mission has also criticised the closure of Serbia's institutions in Kosovo and the decision on the dinar.
Through a statement, the OSCE has initially stated that this regulation would have a serious impact, especially on those residents who receive payment in dinars.
As positive O The SEU sees Kosovo institutions' statements that there will be a transitional period to invest in better communication with local Serbs, the dinar users.
“However, the Mission acknowledges the stated acceptance of Kosovo institutions that it will have an impact on those residents, as well as on expressing their readiness to ensure a transitional period and invest in better communication in order to avoid difficulties and lack of clarity for those affected”, it is said in the communiqué.
“It is essential that the rights of non-party communities, including the Kosovo Serb community, be fully respected and time be left for necessary consultations with the affected. It is also important that all relevant public communication be in both official languages”, the announcement reads.
O The SEU has seen as problematic and the closure of Serbia's institutions in Kosovo, which this mission refers to as <x0 Centres that have provided social services to the Serbian community”.
Ox0 session The SEU has also monitored the latest actions undertaken by Kosovo Police, including operations targeting the offices of Belgrade offices in Kosovo municipalities, Dragash, Peja, Istog and Kline, as well as in NGOs. The Centre for Peace and Tolerance in Pristina”.
The sudden closure of objects that offer social or health services to members of non-partisan communities risks having a negative impact on individuals and families by limiting their access to certain essential services. Protection of the welfare of affected communities, including particularly vulnerable groups, should be given priority before such policies or decisions are implemented”, the communique says.
