Former Infrastructure Minister Pal Lekaj, sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for 53 million, has declared he will continue working for the good of Kosovo.
At a meeting with citizens today, Lekaj said he is innocent and is ready “to make the contribution for the general benefit”.
“I wanted to communicate with you directly and tell you that in this process I am innocent and will remain as if I have stayed ahead, and at any time I am willing to make my contribution for the good of Kosovo and the overall good”, Lekaj said.
Former Prime Minister at the Haradinaj Government was found guilty Wednesday (January 31st) of the Constitutional Court in Pristina, in the case of dividing the 53m euros additional consortium “Bechtel-Enka” for building the “Arba Xhaferi” highway.
He has been convicted of misusing the official task of deliberately undermining the state budget.
Lekaj has also been sentenced to supplementary punishment, which he has been forbidden for three years and six months to exercise public office in public administration.
