US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeff Hovenier has said the US government is deeply concerned about the recent actions of the Kosovo Government authorities in stopping the Serbian dinar.
That, according to him, will have a direct and negative effect on local Serbs and other minority communities in Kosovo.
To Houvenier's statements, Michael Roth, chairman of the German Bundestag Foreign Policy Commission, has reacted.
On the social network “X”, Roth distributed the Hüvenier statement, which he said is unbalanized.
According to him, in this US statement there should be clear messages about the Serb terrorist attack on Banjska.
“Another example of unbalannized US (or EU) statements for Kosovo. I miss such clear messages about Serbian aggression (terrorist attack on Bajnska, kidnapping or blackmail) in the region, dear @ U n SAmbKosovo”, Roth wrote.
The CEC's regulation went into effect on February 1st, despite the international community's strong push to postpone its implementation.
Hüvenier expressed his concern about, as he said, “seized Serbian dinars and a vehicle carrying them from Serbia for social payment” by Kosovo Police on Saturday.
To such an attitude of the US ambassador, British MP Alicia Kearns has reacted.
In a response to “X”, Kearns has asked Ambassador Havener where the balance lies here.
“Where is the balance? Have we seen such a statement by the US following the illegal kidnapping of three police officers from Serbia? No. The silence for Banjska's terrorist attack still remains deaf”, Kearns wrote.
While, the Kosovo government says implementing the regulation for cash transactions will take place through a slight transition and that there will be no fines for the possession of currency in other countries.
Another example for unbalanced W. S. (For EU) Statistics about Kosovo.
I miss such a clear messing Serbia's commitment (Banska terror attack, kickping or blackmailing) in the regime, door @ U n SAmbKosovo! https://t.co/rHjdfz0zP
